NASHVILLE – The Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation (GBBF), the non-profit organization supporting the ongoing, statewide operation of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, has named Kirk Graves to the position of communications director.

Graves joins the GBBF as an experienced communications and messaging professional. Most recently an account executive at the Bradford Group in Nashville, he also brings non-profit experience to the GBBF from his time in the Community Development department of Alive Hospice.

“We are delighted to have Kirk at the helm of our communications efforts,” said Theresa Carl, president of the GBBF. “He arrives with a rich set of skills and experiences as a writer, strategist, fundraiser and leader.”

A Nashville native, Graves will be responsible for managing the comprehensive communications strategy of the foundation, including its social media efforts, website, media and donor relations, and more.

“I feel genuinely honored to be part of an organization whose mission – that of putting free, high-quality books in the hands of Tennessee’s preschoolers – is one I support so passionately,” Graves said. “I look forward to putting my efforts to good use in the service of Tennessee’s children and families.”

About the GBBF:  The Governor's Books from Birth Foundation, in partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, puts free, high-quality, age-appropriate books in the hands of registered Tennessee preschoolers statewide. Its mission is to support the ongoing, statewide operation of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library – assisting all Tennessee preschool children by developing their vocabularies, boosting their school readiness, and fostering a love of learning and reading – and ensure that free, high quality, age-appropriate books are mailed once a month directly to these children’s homes, from birth until age five.
