Wednesday, January 16, 2013 | 03:18am

FRANKLIN – Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will close a section of the eastbound lanes of Cool Springs Boulevard this weekend to install a water line and perform other construction activities. Detours will be in place utilizing Liberty Pike and Franklin Road (see attached map).

Cool Springs Boulevard eastbound will be closed from Mack Hatcher Parkway to Windcross Court beginning Friday January 18 at 8:00 p.m. through Monday January 21 at 6:00 a.m. Signs will direct motorists to use Liberty Pike and Franklin Road for detours around the closure.

*This work is weather dependent and may be canceled in the event of rain.

The closure is part of a $22.8 million construction project to widen Mack Hatcher Boulevard (SR 397). The project, which began in late 2011, is scheduled to be complete in May 2014.

Information about this weekend’s closure will be posted on portable messages boards in the area. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and seek alternate routes. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.

For more information on TDOT construction project activity visit the TDOT SmartWay web site at www.tn.gov/tdot/tdotsmartway/ or download the new TDOT SmartWay mobile app. Travelers can also dial 511 from any land-line or cellular phone for travel information or can follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/TN511 for statewide travel information or www.twitter.com/Nashville511 for traffic information in the Nashville area.  Motorists are reminded to use all motorist information tools responsibly.  Drivers should refrain from texting, tweeting or using a mobile phone while operating a vehicle.  TDOT advises drivers to “Know before you go!” by checking traffic conditions before leaving for your destination.
