NEW OFFICE WILL COMBINE ALL CURRENT SERVICES AT ONE LOCATION

NASHVILLE – The TN Department of Labor & Workforce Development is consolidating two offices that provide employment assistance to the Nashville area at one location.

Beginning Monday, October 21, 2013, employment and training services of the two offices will be offered at the new Nashville Career Center, 665 Mainstream Drive – formerly the Piedmont Gas building – in MetroCenter.  The move merges offices and services previously available at 3763 Nolensville Road and 2200 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. Staff from those offices will be working at the new Nashville Career Center.

“The intent of one-stop centers is to offer a full range of services to job seekers under one roof.  The new Nashville Career Center fits that formula,” said Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips. “We look forward to assisting Davidson County residents in our new location.”

Career Center staff helps job seekers connect with employers who have listed jobs with both the Career Center and with Jobs4TN.gov – the department’s online database that has an average of 90,000 jobs. Job applicants can get career information, use the Internet, take part in job preparation workshops, and post résumés.

The 12,000-square-foot Career Center has 45 workstations at which staff assist job seekers and 37 resource room stations where job seekers can compose and post résumés and use the Internet for job search activities. Employers can request prescreening and pretesting and use office space for interviewing qualified workers.

The Nashville Career Center at 665 Mainstream Drive is now a stop on the Nashville MTA MetroCenter #9 bus route. Ample parking is also available.

The new office will be open for business on Monday, October 21. The phone numbers are (615) 253-8920 and (615) 741-3556. Please note:

  • The Nashville North Career Center at 2200 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard will be open for Food Stamps and Re-Employment Services Assessment (RESA) program activities only on Thursday, October 17, from 8:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.
  • On Friday, October 18, Food Stamps activities only will be available at the new Nashville Career Center, 665 Mainstream Drive.
  • The Nashville South Career Center at 3763 Nolensville Road will be closed Thursday, October 17, and Friday, October 18, and reopen at 665 Mainstream Drive on Monday, October 21.
