TDOT Awards Rockslide Repair Contract

Work to begin soon on State Route 25 in Smith County

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has awarded an emergency contract for rockslide repair following a rockslide that occurred last week on SR 25 (Dixon Springs Highway) in Carthage.

The rockslide repair contract was awarded to Lojac Enterprises, Inc., which submitted a low bid of $116,987.

The contract states that all repair work should be completed on or before Wednesday, May 22, 2013.  If repairs are not completed by then, TDOT will fine the contractor $2,500 a day.   Once the contractor has completed the rockslide repair and cleanup, TDOT Maintenance will then need to pave the road.  TDOT expects to reopen this roadway to motorists no later than Friday, May 24th, 2013.

Both lanes of SR 25 will remain closed during the repair project, which is taking place near the Cumberland River Overlook and south of Massey Road.

To get around the rockslide, drivers must use the detour in place from SR 263 (Main Street/Hartsville Pike/Turkey Creek Road) to SR 85 (Defeated Creek Highway) to SR 80 (Pleasant Shade Highway).
