Section of Battery Lane to Close Monday for Bridge Replacement

Detours Begin June 3rd for 90 Day Closure

Nashville, Tenn. –The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) in partnership with Metro Nashville Public Works will begin the second phase of construction to replace the Battery Lane Bridge over the West Fork Brown’s Creek on Monday, June 3, 2013.  TDOT will manage the construction of this $655,236 project for Metro Nashville.Phase two of the project will include the actual replacement of the bridge structure. The work will require a total closure of both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Battery Lane between Lealand Lane and Granny White Pike.   The road will be closed for approximately ninety days beginning June 3rd, 2013. Detours will be in place and are explained below.  A detour map is also attached.

The project will widen the Battery Lane Bridge to meet current road design standards.  The new bridge will have a concrete span with a total width of 42 feet, including two 12 foot lanes with eight foot shoulders. The proposed bridge length is approximately 40 feet.  According to TDOT traffic counts, approximately 16,000 vehicles use this stretch of Battery Lane each day. The existing bridge was constructed in 1956.

From Battery Lane turn Right onto Lealand Lane

From Lealand Lane turn Left onto Glendale Lane

From Glendale Lane turn Left onto Granny White Pike

From Granny White Pike turn Right back onto Battery Lane/Harding Place

West to East Detour

Coming from Hillsboro Rd. (U.S. 431/ SR 106)

From Harding Place turn Right onto Granny White Pike

From Granny White Pike turn Left onto Tyne Boulevard

From Tyne Boulevard turn Left onto Lealand Lane

From Lealand Lane turn Right back onto Battery Lane/Harding Place

Message Boards and Metro Police officers will be in place to help provide assistance with the detour routes.  Local two-way traffic will be allowed to access their homes within the construction limits on Battery Lane.
