Tubing Manufacturer Invests $3.4 Million, Creates 25 New Jobs

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty along with United Stainless, Inc. President Greg Sturicz announced today the company will expand its facility in Selmer, Tenn. The stainless steel tubing manufacturer is expanding one of its existing product lines to offer custom cutting and fabricating, resulting in a $3.4 million investment and the addition of 25 new manufacturing positions over the next two years.

“Tennessee is an attractive location for companies around the world with our business-friendly environment, solid workforce and tradition of quality manufacturing” Hagerty said. “Servicing nearly a dozen countries globally, United Stainless continues to grow, succeed and drive job creation throughout southwest Tennessee, and I appreciate the company’s decision to expand its McNairy County operations and further invest in our state.”

“We are excited about the continued growth of our cutting and fabricating facility and the opportunities this will bring to our local community,” United Stainless Vice President of Manufacturing Steve Glidewell said. “We would like to give special thanks to the local and state government officials who have participated and assisted in the planning and development of our facility expansion.”

United Stainless provides a wide range of stainless and corrosion resistant alloys for superior strength, bend ability, temperature requirements and longevity. Headquartered in Beloit, Wis., United Industries currently operates two companies in Selmer – United Stainless and United Industries Cutting & Fabricating.

Located at 130 Three Star Drive, the expansion will include a 30,000 square foot building addition that will accommodate additional cutting and fabricating equipment along with more efficient storage and handling.

“We are very pleased that United Stainless has once again chosen Selmer for an additional expansion to their business,” Selmer Mayor David Robinson said. “We look forward to the additional jobs that will be created in the community. They are a pleasure to work with and we look forward to a long relationship.”

“We are extremely excited that United Stainless has made the decision to reinvest in Selmer/McNairy County,” McNairy County Mayor Ronnie Brooks said. “United Stainless has been an outstanding asset to Selmer/McNairy County through their support to the community and efforts to be vested not only as an employer but a dedicated citizen.”

"The Selmer/McNairy County Industrial Development Board is very pleased and excited to be a part of this project," Board Chairman Robert Shackelford said. "United Stainless is one of our premier industries. Their business model has enabled them to continually grow, meeting the needs of more customers while supporting many local families and giving back to our community. We are proud to call United Stainless a friend to McNairy County, and we anticipate a long and mutually beneficial partnership."

“United Stainless has been an excellent corporate citizen, and we are excited about working with them on their new expansion,” Ted Moore, executive director of the McNairy County Economic Development Commission, said. “This is their eighth expansion over the past few years. It says a lot for the company as they continue growth in these difficult economic conditions. Those expansions have allowed them to more than double the number of employees and operate from two locations in Selmer. We appreciate the positive economic impact they have on our local economy.”
