Chattanooga Man Makes Plea Agreement in Boating Incident Which Resulted in Two Deaths

NASHVILLE --- A Chattanooga man, Bradley Scott Crain, has pleaded guilty and received a sentence as a result of a 2009 boating incident that resulted in the deaths of two men, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced.

Crain was the operator of a boat below Chickamauga Dam on the Tennessee River in Hamilton County that took the lives of Jeremiah Landers and Jamichael Russell. Crain pleaded guilty to two counts of criminally negligent homicide and Boating Under the Influence (BUI).  He was also charged with negligent operation of a vessel, but that charge was dismissed as part of the plea arrangement.

The plea agreement, made on July 17, avoids a trial in Hamilton County Criminal Court. Crain received two years of unsupervised probation for the criminally negligent homicides and was given judicial diversion. On the BUI conviction, he received a $250 fine and the loss of his boat operating privileges for one year.
