Poplar Avenue and Shady Grove Road Bridges over I-240 to Close for Repairs

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will close lanes on two Memphis bridges crossing over I-240 in order to perform repair work.

Saturday, September 14, 2013 beginning at 5:00 a.m. through Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. the westbound Poplar Avenue Bridge over I-240 will be closed to through traffic.  A detour route will be posted and message boards will be used to help direct motorists.

Saturday, September 21, 2013 beginning at 5:00 a.m. through Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 6:00 p.m., the eastbound Poplar Avenue Bridge over I-240 will be reduced to one lane.

Saturday, September 28, 2013 beginning at 1:00 p.m. through Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 6:00 p.m., Shady Grove Road Bridge over I-240 will be closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. A detour route will be posted and message boards will be used to help direct motorists.

The work is part of a $46 million widening project on I-240 scheduled to be complete July 31, 2014.

The work is weather dependent.  Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from occurring as scheduled, it will be rescheduled to take place as soon as possible.
