KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced today that the Henley Bridge Community Center, located at 220 East Blount Avenue in Knoxville, will close on Friday, January 31st.

The Henley Bridge rehabilitation project, which began in January of 2011, is now in its final stages.  There is currently one lane of traffic open in each direction.

The due date for total project completion remains June 3, 2014.

In addition, the two project cameras that were previously accessible at the Henley Bridge webpage have been taken down.

The Henley Bridge is more than 80 years old. When the rehabilitation project is complete, another 50 years is expected to be added to the life of the bridge. By expanding the travel lanes, it will also be more efficient at moving traffic in and out of the downtown area.
