Westbound Sam Cooper to Close for Two Weekends for Beam Installation

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation will be closing Sam Cooper Boulevard as crews continue to work on the new east and westbound flyovers. This work is part of the I-40/I-240 interchange improvement project.

Saturday, October 25 at 5:00 a.m. through Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 1 at 5:00 a.m. through Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.:

During both weekends, westbound Sam Cooper Boulevard will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to allow for the installation of steel girders over the existing traffic lane. Traffic taking Sam Cooper Boulevard westbound into the city will be detoured along westbound I-40 to the Covington Pike interchange and then back along eastbound I-40 to exit 12B where traffic will rejoin Sam Cooper Boulevard. Westbound I-40 traffic will be encouraged to use SR 385 as an alternate route. Detour maps and information will be provided on the TDOT web site.

The work is weather dependent.  Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from occurring as scheduled, it will be rescheduled.
