Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park to Host 11th Annual Tennessee History Festival

Living History Event to Be Held Oct. 17-18 in Nashville

NASHVILLE – Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park will host the 11th Annual Tennessee History Festival Oct. 17-18.

The festival’s living history brings Tennessee’s unique and compelling stories to life. Living historians will portray Tennessean’s including John Sevier, Sgt. Alvin C. York and David Crockett along with British soldiers at Fort Loudon, Cherokees and women’s suffragettes.

Festival attendees can visit several historical and cultural sites from across the state that will be set up along the granite history timeline at the park. Various county tourism boards will also be on hand. Several authors of Tennessee history books will be available to sell and discuss their publications. An activity tent sponsored the TN State Parks Junior Ranger Program will be available for children both days.

Living history demonstrations of all time periods will be conducted regularly throughout the day. Special programs will be presented every hour at the Court of Three Stars.

The free event will be held 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. Each day is open to the public. School groups are recommended to make reservations. Contact David.Britton@tn.gov for questions or reservations.

The Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park is located at the foot of the State Capitol in downtown Nashville. The 19-acre park was designed to complement the Capitol and give visitors a taste of Tennessee’s history and natural wonders, while serving as a lasting monument to Tennessee’s Bicentennial celebration.
