Henley Bridge Project update; Two more lanes of traffic to open Monday afternoon

Monday, February 24, 2014 | 06:33am

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced today that two more lanes of traffic will open on the Henley Bridge Monday afternoon, February 24th.

Two lanes of traffic in each direction will return to the bridge for the first time since January of 2011.  The bridge opened to one lane of traffic in each direction last October.

On Tuesday, February 25th, crews will remove striping and repaint lines to modify the intersection at Moody Avenue and Chapman Highway.  Once complete, detour signage in the project area will also be removed.

Although the bridge will be open to two lanes of traffic in each direction, work continues on the historic structure, with the due date for total project completion remaining June 3, 2014.  Please use caution when traveling on the bridge as workers will be present.
