NASHVILLE --- Connie King, of Clarksville, has been named to the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) in an appointment made by Gov. Bill Haslam. She will represent the TFWC’s District 6, which is comprised of 13 counties in Middle Tennessee ranging from the Alabama to the Kentucky state lines.

Mrs. King is involved with several outdoors and community-related organizations. In the past, she served on the board of directors for the Montgomery County Shooting Complex. She is currently on the board of The Hope Pregnancy Center, which serves women and girls of Montgomery County and surrounding areas. She is an active member in Grace Community Church.

She and her husband, David, own and operate Midsouth Shooters Supply, a mail order business that ships shooting supplies throughout the United States as well as many other countries around the world. Mrs. King enjoys wing shooting, especially duck hunting with her husband, but fishing for crappie, shell crackers and bass is her favorite pastime in the outdoors.

“I am looking forward to learning more about how the TWRA (Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency) serves the citizens of Tennessee as well as (how it) protects our wildlife,” she said. “Also, I look forward to meeting so many others who are passionate about this heritage.”

TFWC District 6 counties are Cheatham, Dickson, Giles, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lawrence, Lewis, Maury, Montgomery, Stewart, Wayne, and Williamson.

Mrs. King’s appointment is effective through February 2015. Mrs. King and David have two married daughters and six grandchildren.

She replaces Julie Schuster, of Pegram, who resigned her position in December to become executive director of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation.

The TFWC is the governing body of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. The TFWC features nine members appointed by Gov. Haslam to represent the commission’s districts. Two members each are appointed by the Speaker of the House and the Speaker of the Senate. There are 13 voting members of the commission. The governor and the commissioners of Tennessee’s Department of Agriculture and Department of Environment and Conservation serve as ex-officio non-voting members.
