First Traffic Shift Planned on Memorial Blvd. in Rutherford County
Murfreesboro, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews plan to shift traffic on Memorial Boulevard (State Route 96) in Murfreesboro. Weather permitting, crews have tentatively scheduled to start work tonight Thursday, March 13th and it could take several days to completely shift traffic.
Thursday March 13th through Tuesday March 18th, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, (excluding Saturday and Sunday), there will be alternating lane closures on SR 96 eastbound and westbound over the CSX Railroad just west of the intersection to install traffic attenuators and barrier rail. This will allow crews to remove the median wall and begin construction on the other side of Memorial Blvd.
This traffic shift is part of the project to completely reconstruct the intersection of Broad St. (SR 1) and Memorial Blvd. /Old Fort Parkway (SR 96/SR 10) by creating a single point urban interchange. The project will create a new bridge on Memorial Blvd. that will cross over Broad Street. The $17.6 million project is expected to be completely finished in early summer of 2016.
