Bridge Repairs to Impact Traffic; Starting March 17 on I-640 in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE – Motorists should be aware of bridge repairs on I-640 which are expected to have an impact on traffic next week in Knoxville.

Beginning on Monday, March 17th at 7 p.m., the I-640 Eastbound and I-640 Westbound bridges over I-275 will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes.  Crews will work around-the-clock until all lanes are reopened.

Also beginning on Monday, March 17th at 7 p.m., crews will begin bridge repairs on the ramp from I-640 Westbound to I-40 Westbound and the ramp from I-40 Eastbound to I-640 Eastbound.  These ramps will be reduced from two lanes to one lane.  Crews will work around-the-clock until all lanes are reopened.

Motorists should expect potential delays and use extreme caution traveling through this area as workers will be present.

This work schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions and may require adjustments in the event of inclement weather.
