YMCA Youth Commissioner Visits TDOC

NASHVILLE  – The Tennessee Department of Correction welcomed YMCA Youth Commissioner Roman Darker on Friday, March 28, 2014.  Darker is a student at White Station High School in Memphis, Tennessee.  He was selected as one of 20 students to be part of the YMCA Youth in Government Governor’s Cabinet.  The Tennessee YMCA Youth in Government Program is an annual conference to offer students hands-on experience with state government.

Darker kicked off the day with a Rehabilitative Services panel discussion.  He later met with Commissioner Derrick Schofield and Deputy Commissioner/Chief of Staff Chuck Taylor to learn more about the inner workings of the Department of Correction.  Darker ended his visit with a tour of Charles Bass Correctional Complex with Warden Mike Holloway.
