Governor Haslam to Memorialize Six Tennessee Service Members

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder and Tennessee Military Department Major General Terry “Max” Haston will memorialize six Tennessee service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Warrant Officer One Sean Mullen, Staff Sergeant Stephen New and Staff Sergeant Daniel Lee were killed in action while serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2013-2014. 

Major Howard Andre, Jr. and Staff Sergeant Lawrence Woods were missing in action (MIA) for several decades before being recovered and laid to rest in 2013-2014.

The Governor will also present the Gold Star Family Day Proclamation to Gold Star Mother Joyce Mount.  Warrant Officer One Judson Mount died in 2009, five months after being injured by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Iraq.

NOTE:            In case of inclement weather, the event will be relocated to the second floor of the State Capitol, Nashville
