TDVA Veteran Outreach and Job Fair in Washington County Offers Connection to Valuable Resources

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs (TDVA) is partnering with nearly 40 federal, state, local public and private partners to ensure Veterans, dependents and surviving family members in Carter, Greene, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington Counties get access to employment opportunities, educational resources, mental health and substance abuse services, business resources and claims assistance. 

Representatives from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as well as East Tennessee State University, King College and Northeast State College, will participate in the Veterans Outreach Event and Job Fair on Friday, August 15 from 10am to 2pm at Armed Forces Center at 253 Don May Road, in Johnson City.  Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will participate to offer Commercial Driving Certification for qualified Veterans as well as recruit Veterans for open positions. Tennessee Department of Correction, Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, Tennessee Department of Human Resources and Tennessee Department of Military will also recruit Veterans.  

Partners also include Veteran supporters, U.S. Senator Bob Corker, U.S. Congressman Phil Roe,  Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey, Senator Steve Southerland (R-Morristown), Senator Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City), Representative Kent Williams (I-Elizabethton), Representative Jeremy Faison (R-Cosby), Representative David Hawk (R-Greeneville), Representative Matthew Hill (R-Jonesborough), Representative Timothy Hill (R-Blountville), Representative Jon Lundberg (R-Bristol), Representative Tony Shipley (R-Kingsport), Representative Micah Van Huss (R-Jonesborough),

Veterans will need to present a copy of their DD-214 and any other service related documents to assist with filing claims for federal benefits.
