Procedures Changed for Youth Waterfowl Draw at Bogota WMA, Thorny Cypress WMA

NASHVILLE --- Youngsters hopeful to participate in youth-only waterfowl hunts at Bogota and Thorny Cypress Wildlife Management Areas in 2015 will have two options to apply for the events.

The hunts, for youth ages 6-15, are scheduled for Jan. 31 and Feb. 7, 2015. A hand held drawing will be held at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Dyersburg work base (335 Menzies Road, Dyersburg, TN 38024) on Jan. 19, 2015 at 6 p.m. for both hunt dates.

Youth may apply in person on Jan. 19 at the Dyersburg site. A second option is to apply by submitting a U.S. Postal Service Postcard or index card to the TWRA Area Manager to be received prior to Jan. 19. 

If a youth elects to apply by mail, the following information must be provided on the card for each applicant:
• Name and age
• TWRA ID  #
• Address
• Phone number (Parent or guardian)
• Email address (Parent or guardian)
• List preferred hunt date (Jan. 31 or Feb. 7, 2015)
• List preferred pool choices in order of preference (up to 15 pool choices)

A separate card should be submitted for each youth applicant. Application cards may be placed in an envelope and mail to TWRA, 335 Menzies Road, Dyersburg, TN 38204.  The card will be placed in the barrel for the hand held drawing on Jan. 19. Those who have their cards drawn will be contacted by phone or email and issued a confirmation number.

For those youth applying in person on Jan. 19, application cards will be supplied on-site.
