Temporary Closures Planned for I-40/I-240 Interchange Project

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation will have temporary closures on sections of the interstate system this weekend as crews continue to work on the new east and westbound flyover ramps. This work is part of the I-40/I-240 interchange improvement project. The closures are necessary as crews continue installing beams over existing roadways.

Saturday, January 31 6:30 a.m. through Sunday, February 1 at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, February 7 6:30 a.m. through Sunday, February 8 at 5:30 p.m.

There will be CLOSURES at the following locations:

  • I-240 East (northbound) beginning at Exit 12C (northbound I-240 exit to go I-40 eastbound)
  • I-240 East (northbound) at Exit 12B to go westbound Sam Cooper
  • Sam Cooper westbound Exit 10B to go I-240 East (northbound)

The work is weather dependent.  Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from occurring as scheduled, it will be rescheduled.

Traffic will be encouraged to use SR 385 as an alternate route. Detour maps and information will be provided on the project web site. http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/i40-240memphis/
