Commission to Hold One Day February Meeting

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold a one-day meeting when it returns to Nashville and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Region II Ray Bell Building on Thursday, Feb. 12. The February meeting will begin at 9 a.m.

Chuck Yoest, Program Coordinator, will present an update on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). He will also make a presentation on Tennessee’s Wild Hog Management Program-A Model for the future.

An update will be given on TWRA’s Carroll Lake. Heavy rains caused the gates used to control water levels on the 100-acre lake to be damaged beyond repair. The damage was included as part of a Federal Disaster Declaration.

Since the flood, the damaged gates have been removed and Carroll Lake has remained completely drained. Two public meetings have been held in Huntingdon and McKenzie to discuss the lake’s future.

Don King, Information and Education Division Chief, will talk about the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) annual state tournament. The tournament will be held in Murfreesboro on April 1-2.

Michael May, Information Technology Division Chief, will introduce the division’s 2014 Professional of the Year. 

TFWC Chairman Jeff Griggs will call for a report from the TFWC Nominating Committee. The TFWC will elect new officers for 2015-16.
