Major Traffic Shift Planned for I-40/I-240 Interchange Project

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation will be shifting traffic to new outside lanes from I-240 eastbound to I-40 eastbound. This work is part of the I-40/I-240 interchange improvement project. The shift is necessary as crews continue to build the new transition for the new I-40 eastbound flyover.

Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, 19, 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The following will be CLOSED for crews to install metal deck pans on the new I-40 westbound flyover:

  • I-40 westbound ramp to Little Rock

LOOK AHEAD: Saturday, April 25, 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

  • I-40 - one lane east and one lane west will be closed to remove traffic control devices at Covington Pike and reinstall west of Covington Pike

The work is weather dependent. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from occurring as scheduled, it will be rescheduled. Detour maps and information will be provided on the project web site. http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/i40-240memphis/
