Crossville Resident Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion on Boat Purchase

Nashville, Tenn. - Francis Thierry, 71, pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in Cumberland County Criminal Court Wednesday.

Cumberland County Judge Gary McKenzie sentenced Thierry to one year probation for tax evasion and ordered Thierry to pay $1,013 to the state.

On March 3, the Cumberland County Grand Jury indicted Thierry on one Class E felony count of tax evasion. The tax evasion related to his purchase of a 2009 Leisure Craft boat.

The Department pursued this criminal case in cooperation with District Attorney Bryant Dunaway and his staff. Citizens who suspect violations of Tennessee's revenue laws should call the toll-free tax fraud hot line at (800) FRAUDTX (372-8389).
