Tennessee State Trooper Arrests Clarksville Man on Drug Charges in Marion County

NASHVILLE --- A Tennessee state trooper initiated a traffic stop on Tuesday that resulted in the drug arrest of a Clarksville man in Marion County.

Trooper George Stephens stopped a 2009 Nissan Sentra after observing the vehicle was following too closely on Interstate 24 westbound near the 153 mile marker at approximately 8 a.m. (EDT) on Tuesday.  Upon initial contact, the trooper noticed nervous and suspicious behavior from the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle. 

Further investigation revealed that the driver, Tony Black, 28, of Clarksville, was driving on a suspended license and had several prior drug charges out of Montgomery County.

Trooper Stephens then requested and received consent to search the vehicle, where he found various prescription pills, including, 55 alprazolam, 20 hydrocodone and two amphetamine pills. He also discovered that Black did not possess a prescription for the aforementioned pills.

Black was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule II drugs and felony possession of schedule IV drugs. He was also charged with driving on a suspended license and following too close. 

Black was transported to the Marion County Jail.
