Motorists should expect delays and consider alternate routes

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) will be escorting an oversized commercial motor vehicle (CMV) through Tennessee on I-65 southbound on Thursday night. The load will consume more than two lanes of traffic, which could create significant congestion. Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes.

The oversized CMV is expected to cross into Tennessee from Kentucky on Thursday evening and travel through the night.  THP will meet the CMV at the I-65 Portland Scales, and escort the vehicle as it travels through Tennessee.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will be monitoring the oversized CMV at its regional Transportation Management Centers in Nashville.  Overhead Dynamic Message Signs and portable message boards will be used to alert drivers of congestion along the route.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s (www.TN.Gov/safety) mission is to serve, secure, and protect the people of Tennessee.
