Center to close at the end of business today

Millington – The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security announced the Millington Driver Services Center will temporarily close due to a septic line collapse. The center will close at the end of business today.

The Millington Driver Services Center, located at 5019 West Union Road, will stop serving customers at 5:00 p.m. today. The Millington staff will be temporarily assigned to neighboring centers.

Starting Monday, customers can receive driver services at the nearby Covington center which is a full service center. Other area centers include ones at 6340 Summer Avenue and 3200 East Shelby Drive in Memphis, as well as 160 Beau Tisdale Drive in Oakland.

“This move is an inconvenience that we are working to resolve quickly,” Commissioner Bill Gibbons said. “The Department of General Services, which maintains state facilities, is working closely with our driver services division to correct the problem in a prompt manner. This was a necessary decision to give our staff and customers a safe environment to conduct business.”

Customers are encouraged to use the online driver services by visiting the department website at www.tn.gov/safety to renew, replace or change personal and emergency contact information.
