Advance Look at the Embargoed 2017 Teacher Preparation Report Card

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The State Board of Education will hold a media call on February 13, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. CT to present an advance look at the 2017 results, as well as new highlights and features to look for in the second year of the Tennessee Teacher Preparation Report Card. The report will remain embargoed until February 15, 2018.

WHAT: Media call to provide an advance look at the 2017 results, as well as recent updates to the report card, its practical applications and the data behind it.

WHY:  Dr. Morrison will speak on the practical applications of the redesigned report card for prospective teachers, school districts, education preparation providers and the public. Mr. Gwozdzik will talk through the 2017 results, and discuss the research and data used to develop the report card.

The Teacher Preparation Report card is a tool that local school districts, prospective teachers, educator preparation providers in Tennessee, and the public can use to better understand the quality of teacher preparation across the state. Data included in the report card uses multiple metrics, including placement and retention, observation and growth scores of recent graduates, among others, to provide information about the effectiveness of teachers who graduate from all approved Tennessee preparation programs.
