State Board of Education to Recognize Blue Ribbon and ESEA Distinguished Schools at Quarterly Workshop

Next week, the Tennessee State Board of Education will meet for the first time in 2019 in House Hearing Room II on Thursday, Feb. 7 and Friday,  Feb. 8, 2019, where members will recognize the 2018 Blue Ribbon and ESEA Distinguished Schools.

WHAT: Quarterly meeting and workshop

WHEN: February 7 from 1:00 p.m. -  4:30 p.m. February 8 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

The State Board of Education will hear presentations from the State Board staff, the Tennessee Department of Education, and the Tennessee Education Research Alliance (TERA) at the Thursday workshop on education policy topics including recent research findings in Tennessee and the progress toward the Board’s annual Master Plan. Meeting items and links to the live stream for the workshop are included in the Thursday agenda.

On Friday, February 8, 2019, the State Board of Education will hold the voting portion of the quarterly meeting. Board members will consider items on both first and final reading including:  new and revised courses in Career and Technical Education (CTE), revised course standards in the STEM cluster, and updates to the high school and middle grades policies.
