After three days of clearing and surveying an active landslide on I-24 East in northwest Davidson County, TDOT anticipates being able to safely reopen both travel lanes on Friday, March 15.
TDOT crews have a long-term closure in place on Interstate 24 East at mile marker 42 in northwest Davidson County, where a landslide occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 23.
A section of Highway 70N in Hawkins County is closed indefinitely due to a major slide that occurred early Thursday morning. The slide, which happened between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on February 21, 2019, claimed the life of one motorist and injured one other.

As part of a slope stabilization and debris removal project at the site of a recent rockslide, TDOT contract crews will conduct a series of blasting operations to remove loose material from the slope adjacent to I 24 West at mile marker 136.2 in Marion County. The first blasting operation is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at approximately 10:00 a.m. CST. When blasting operations are taking place, traffic will be slowed using rolling roadblocks and could be temporarily stopped for periods of up to 20 minutes for safety reasons. As soon as blasting operations are completed and the roadway is cleared of any resulting debris, traffic will be released.
Long-term lane closures for heavy construction operations on the Interstate 440 reconstruction project are estimated to begin the weekend of March 1. TDOT is advising drivers to prepare for increased drive times along the I-440 corridor and surrounding areas beginning in March 2019 until the project completion in August 2020.
