FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews plan to shift traffic on Interstate 65 at State Route 248 (Peytonsville Road/Goose Creek Bypass) in Williamson County. To prepare for the shift, lane closures are scheduled as follows.

  • Friday, December 11, 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. – I-65 northbound (only) will be reduced to one lane.
  • Tuesday, December 15 through Friday, December 18, 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. – I-65 southbound (only) will be reduced to one lane.

During the lane closures, the roadway will be paved and restriped. This work will allow a third lane of travel for I-65 northbound and southbound traffic. The additional northbound lane will be open by Saturday, December 12. The additional southbound lane will be open by Saturday, December 19, weather permitting.

The new traffic pattern will be similar to the final design of the widening project, which will expand I-65 from two to four lanes, between SR 840 and SR 248. Motorists should be aware of the changes, and all drivers are reminded the speed limit in the work zone is 60 mph.

The $46 million project is expected to be finished in June 2016.
