Nashville native and media veteran Katy Schulte joins TDOT Communications Team

Nashville – Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner John Schroer has appointed Kathryn Schulte as the Community Relations Officer for TDOT’s Region Three area, based in Nashville.  Schulte officially started Tuesday, December 1, 2015.  Schulte takes over the position previously held by Heather Jensen, who is now heading up website coordination/social media in TDOT’s Community Relations Division.

Schulte previously served as a Public Information Specialist for the Alabama Department of Transportation where she worked with the public, elected officials, and media in Southwest Alabama, including the Mobile area, as well as Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

Schulte is a Nashville native and holds a B.S. in Journalism from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.  Prior to her work in transportation outreach, Schulte worked in the Athletic Communications office at Vanderbilt University and was Assistant Sports Information Director at Wake Forest University.

Schulte will serve as the primary media contact for the Middle Tennessee media market and for the 26 counties that comprise TDOT’s Region Three area. Middle Tennessee media outlets should make note of this staffing change. Kathryn Schulte’s contact information can be found in this letterhead and she can be reached via email at kathryn.schulte@tn.gov.
