Weekly East Tennessee Construction Report for February 25-March 2, 2016

ANDERSON COUNTY, SR 61 between the Roane County Line (Log Mile 0) and Midway Drive (Log Mile 2.7): Motorists should be alert for lane closures through this project as crews construct turn lanes in this area.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution in this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129 Alcoa Highway at Topside Road: Beginning Sunday, February 28, 2016, motorists should be alert for nightly lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning on Sunday through Thursday as crews perform work to the outside shoulders in preparation to shift traffic through this intersection improvement project. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129 Bridge over Nine Mile Creek at Log Mile 3.15: US 129 is reduced to one lane around the clock in this area and controlled by a temporary traffic signal as crews begin bridge repairs.  The bridge is reduced to a single 9 foot travel lane.  Traffic in excess of the 9 feet maximum width should follow signed detour route. Motorists should be alert for changed conditions, be prepared to stop and use extreme caution in this area.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 North and South between Mile Markers 141 and 148: Motorists should be alert for possible short duration rolling roadblocks in this area between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for blasting. Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential delays and use extreme caution in this area

COCKE/JEFFERSON COUNTY, US 411/SR 35 at US 25W:  Motorists should be alert for a new traffic patterns and lane shifts through this project.  Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures with flagging personnel present at various times through this construction project. Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution in this area.

HAMBLEN COUNTY, SR 113 Intersection at Fish Hatchery Road and Chucky River Road: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures during daylight hours through this intersection improvement project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution through this area.

HAMBLEN COUNTY, SR 160 at Merchants Greene: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts near this intersection. Motorists should expect possible rolling roadblocks and short duration traffic stops as crews perform bridge construction. Motorists should be alert for changing conditions and use extreme caution in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 East and West between Mile Markers 383 and 387: On Sunday, February 28, 2016, motorists should be alert for a series of rolling roadblocks between the hours of 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. the following morning as crews perform bridge work at Mile Marker 384.  Rolling roadblocks will occur on I-640 West between Western Avenue and I-40 during this time.  Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped conditions and use extreme caution approaching these areas.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 Eastbound Exit to Asheville Highway (Exit 394): Motorists should be alert for possible daily lane closures on this ramp between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday as crews install a vehicular height detection system at this location.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use caution approaching this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-140 at Kingston Pike: Motorists should be alert for narrowed lanes and workers present on the entrance and exit ramps at this location.  Motorists should use extreme caution through this project.

KNOX COUNTY, Interstate Routes within in Knox County: On Sunday, February 28, 2016 through Thursday, March 3, 2016, motorists should be alert for possible mobile lane closures between the hours 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. the following morning as crews perform roadway repairs.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, slow moving or stopped equipment, and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 Westbound Entrance Ramp from Cedar Bluff (Exit 378): On Monday, February 29, 2016, the ramp from Cedar Bluff Road to I-40 Westbound will be closed between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform remediation work from a previous accident.  Motorists on Cedar Bluff wishing to access I-40 West during this time should use Kingston Pike to I-140 West back to I-40 West. 

KNOX COUNTY, SR 62 (Oak Ridge Hwy. /Western Ave.) between Schaad Road and I-640: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures throughout this widening project.  Motorists traveling in this area should be alert for workers and equipment present and be alert for changing traffic conditions and use caution through this area. KNOX COUNTY, SR 33 Maynardville Highway between Temple Acres Drive and the Union County Line:  Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures with flagging personnel present at various times as work continues through this widening project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, traffic shifts and use extreme caution in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 33 Maynardville Highway between Afton Drive and Emory Road:  Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures and lane shifts at various times as work continues through this construction project.  The crossover to Andersonville Pike between SR 33 northbound and southbound is closed as crews continue grade work in this area.  Traffic on SR 33 northbound wishing to access Andersonville Pike should follow detour signs to the intersection of SR 33 and Emory. Motorists should be alert for workers present, traffic shifts and use extreme caution in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, US 441/SR 33/71 Henley Street near Clinch Avenue in Downtown Knoxville: KUB and its contractor will be performing work in Henley Street near Clinch Avenue. This work, part of the ongoing Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project, will span between the I-275/I-40 on ramp at the northern end and W. Hill Avenue at the southern end.
Work will first begin in the Henley Street/Clinch Avenue intersection, including necessary work between the intersection and the I-275/I-40 on ramp, before moving south. Work will be done in phases, and will not impact all of Henley Street at one time. Active construction with lane closures will occur overnight between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Friday, with prep-work activities and lane closures taking place only when necessary between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays, and use extreme caution through this utility project.  This work has an expected completion date of midsummer 2016. KNOX COUNTY, SR 131 and SR 331 at Harbison Crossroads: Motorists should be alert for new traffic patterns and lane shifts through this project.  Motorists should expect possible temporary lane closures at various times with flag persons directing traffic as work continues in this area.  Motorists should expect potential delays traveling through this area. 

KNOX COUNTY, SR 162 near George Light Road: Through Friday, February 26, 2016, motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews perform bridge work.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution in this area.

LOUDON COUNTY, US 321/SR 73 between SR 2 and City Park Drive: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures at various times through this project. Motorists should be alert for changing conditions, workers present, construction equipment and use extreme caution through this area. LOUDON COUNTY, SR 444 at US 321/SR 73: Motorists should be alert for a possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews perform construction activities near this location.  Motorists should be alert for slowed traffic and use extreme caution in this area.

MORGAN COUNTY, SR 116 Bridge over Stockstill Creek between Main Street and Cemetery Road in Petros:  SR 116 in this area is reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal as crews begin bridge repairs.  Motorists should be alert for changed conditions and use extreme caution in this area. 

MORGAN/ROANE COUNTY, US27/SR29 between Whetstone Road and SR 61:  Motorists should be alert for closed shoulders and possible temporary lane closures with flagging personnel present at various times throughout this construction project. Motorists should be alert for reduced speeds and use extreme caution in this area.

SEVIER COUNTY, SR 66 in Sevierville SR 139 (Douglas Dam Rd.) and SR 338 W (Boyd’s Creek Hwy):  On Monday, February 29, 2016 and Thursday, March 3, 2016, motorists should be alert for possible nightly lane closures between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 p.m. the following morning on southbound SR 66 and SR 338 Boyd’s Creek as crews mill and pave through this area.  Motorists should expect potential delays traveling through this area.  For updated project information, go to http://www.tn.gov/tdot/article/highway-66

SULLIVAN COUNTY, I-81 at SR 394 (Exit 69): Motorists should be alert for narrowed lanes and traffic shifts on the southbound exit and entrances ramps in this area as crews perform work at the SR 394 interchange.  Motorists on State Route 394 should be alert for lane closures underneath I-81 through Sunday, March 13, 2016 as crews perform work.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, changing conditions and use extreme caution in this area.

UNION COUNTY, SR 33 Bridge over Clinch River (Norris Lake): Traffic on State Route 33 has been shifted onto the newly constructed bridge over the Clinch River (Norris Lake).  Motorists should be alert for temporary traffic shifts and narrowed lanes approaching and exiting the bridge in both directions.  Motorists should remain alert for workers present as crews complete this bridge construction project.  Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, SR 36 between SR 354 and SR 75: Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures throughout the project.  These closures should not last more than a few minutes.  Traffic has been shifted on SR36 to the inside lanes from Boone Avenue up to Oak Grove.  Transitions for these lane shifts are designated by pavement markings and construction barrels.  Browns Road is closed but can be accessed via Boones Creek Road.  Orchard Avenue is closed.  Traffic is still shifted at Spurgeon Island Road.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution in this area.
