Lane Closures Scheduled for I-40 at Canada Road in Shelby County

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close sections of I-40 in both directions at Canada Road (Exit 20) in Shelby County beginning Wednesday, March 2. The closures are as follows:

  • Wednesday, March 2 through Friday, March 4, 8:00 p.m.-4:00 a.m. (nightly) - There will be alternating lane closures on I-40 at Canada Road for the removal of overhang bridge supports. The contractor will start on the westbound side and transition to the eastbound side as work allows.
  • Thursday, March 3, 8:00 p.m. through Friday, March 4, 5:00 p.m. - The on-ramp from Canada Road to I-40 westbound will be CLOSED to install drainage pipe across the existing ramp. Detours will be in place.

The work is part of a $28.2 million project to construct a new interchange at I-40 and Canada Road in Shelby County.  The estimated completion date for this project is May 31, 2017.
