Weekly East Tennessee Construction Report for May 26-June 1, 2016

ANDERSON COUNTY, I-75 North near Mile Marker 128: Motorists should be alert for two narrowed traffic lanes shifted to the left as crews perform bridge repairs to the outside lanes of the bridge over US 441 at Exit 128.  During this time, the exit ramp to US 441 (Exit 128) will be closed and motorists should use Exit 129 to access this area. This ramp closure will be in effect for approximately two weeks. Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential long delays during peak travel times and use extreme caution through this area.

 

ANDERSON COUNTY, SR 61 between the Roane County Line (Log Mile 0) and Midway Drive (Log Mile 2.7): Motorists should be alert for lane closures through this project as crews construct turn lanes in this area.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution in this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129/SR 115 between US 411 and the Monroe County Line: Motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures daily with flagging personnel directing traffic during daylight hours through this resurfacing project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129 Alcoa Highway at Topside Road: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts through this intersection improvement project. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129 Bridge over Nine Mile Creek at Log Mile 3.15: US 129 is reduced to one lane around the clock in this area and controlled by a temporary traffic signal as crews begin bridge repairs.  The bridge is reduced to a single 9 foot travel lane.  Traffic in excess of the 9 feet maximum width should follow signed detour route. Motorists should be alert for changed conditions, be prepared to stop and use extreme caution in this area.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 North and South between Mile Markers 135 and 140: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, narrowed lanes, closed shoulders and use caution as crews construct truck climbing lanes through this area.  Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.   

CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 North and South near Mile Marker 141: Motorists should be alert for workers present, slowed traffic, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this bridge repair project.

COCKE/JEFFERSON COUNTY, US 411/SR 35 at US 25W:  Motorists should be alert for a new traffic patterns and lane shifts through this project.  Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures with flagging personnel present at various times through this construction project. Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution in this area.

GREENE COUNTY, I-81 North and South between Mile Markers 18 and 24: Motorists should be alert for possible nightly lane closures between the hours 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning on Sundays through Thursdays through this resurfacing project.  Motorists should be alert for slowed traffic, expect potential delays and use caution in this area.

HAMBLEN COUNTY, SR 160 at Merchants Greene: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts near this intersection. Motorists should expect possible rolling roadblocks and short duration traffic stops as crews perform bridge construction. Motorists should be alert for changing conditions and use extreme caution in this area.

HAMBLEN COUNTY, US 25E between the Jefferson County Line and College Park Drive: Motorists should be alert for temporary daily lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. through this resurfacing project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.

HAWKINS COUNTY, SR 31 between US11W and Adams Lane: Motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures during daylight hours through this resurfacing project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 East and West between I-640 (Exit 385) and Papermill Drive (Exit 383): Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures nightly on Sundays through Thursdays between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning through this resurfacing project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution in this area.  Local traffic should consider using alternate routes during this time.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 East and West between Mile Markers 388 and 395: On Tuesday, May 31, 2016 through Thursday, June 2, 2016, motorists should be alert for possible nightly lane closures between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform roadway maintenance through this area.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 East Ramp to Asheville Highway (Exit 394): On Tuesday, May 31, 2016 through Friday, June 3, 2016, motorists should be alert for temporary alternating lane closures on this ramp between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews perform roadway maintenance.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-640 West between Mile Markers 7.5 and 5: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, closed shoulders, reduced speeds and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 62 (Oak Ridge Hwy. /Western Ave.) between Schaad Road and I-640: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures throughout this widening project.  Motorists traveling in this area should be alert for workers and equipment present and be alert for changing traffic conditions and use caution through this area. KNOX COUNTY, SR 33 Broadway at I-640: Motorists should use caution and be alert for workers and equipment present through this area as crews begin this interchange improvement project.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 33 Maynardville Highway between Temple Acres Drive and the Union County Line:  Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures with flagging personnel present at various times as work continues through this widening project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, traffic shifts and use extreme caution in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 33 Maynardville Highway between Afton Drive and Emory Road:  Motorists should be alert for new traffic patterns and lane shifts through this project. Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures at various times as work continues through this construction project. The crossover at Afton Drive between the North and South side is temporarily closed. Traffic on SR 33 wishing to access the Halls Plaza shopping center should use the entrance at East Andersonville Pike located at the new traffic signal. Motorists should use extreme caution and pay close attention to signs and other traffic control devices in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, US 441/SR 33/71 Henley Street near Clinch Avenue in Downtown Knoxville: KUB and its contractor will be performing work in Henley Street near Clinch Avenue. This work, part of the ongoing Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project, will span between the I-275/I-40 on ramp at the northern end and W. Hill Avenue at the southern end. Work will first begin in the Henley Street/Clinch Avenue intersection, including necessary work between the intersection and the I-275/I-40 on ramp, before moving south. Work will be done in phases, and will not impact all of Henley Street at one time. Active construction with lane closures will occur overnight between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Friday, with prep-work activities and lane closures taking place only when necessary between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays, and use extreme caution through this utility project.  This work has an expected completion date of midsummer 2016. KNOX COUNTY, US 129/SR 115 Alcoa Highway between Maloney Road and Woodson Drive: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures and brief rolling roadblocks at various times through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, reduce speed and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 158 Neyland Drive: Beginning Tuesday, May 31, 2016, motorists should be alert for possible nightly lane closures between the hours 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning on Sundays through Thursdays through this resurfacing project.  Motorists should be alert for slowed traffic, expect potential delays and use caution in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 168 Governor John Sevier Highway at Chapman Highway: Motorists should be alert for temporary lane shifts and workers presents through this intersection improvement project.

LOUDON COUNTY, US 321/SR 73 between SR 2 and City Park Drive: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures and lane shifts at various times through this project. Motorists should be alert for changing conditions, workers present, construction equipment and use extreme caution through this area. LOUDON COUNTY, SR 444 at US 321/SR 73: Motorists should be alert for a possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews perform construction activities near this location.  Motorists should be alert for slowed traffic and use extreme caution in this area.

LOUDON COUNTY, SR 444 between SR 72 and SR 73: On Tuesday, May 31, 2016 through Friday, June 3, 2016, motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. as crews perform roadway maintenance.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this area.

MORGAN COUNTY, SR 116 Bridge over Stockstill Creek between Main Street and Cemetery Road in Petros:  SR 116 in this area is reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal as crews perform bridge repairs.  Motorists should be alert for changed conditions and use extreme caution in this area. 

MORGAN/ROANE COUNTY, US27/SR29 between Whetstone Road and SR 61:  Motorists should be alert for closed shoulders and possible temporary lane closures with flagging personnel present at various times throughout this construction project. Motorists should be alert for reduced speeds and use extreme caution in this area.

SEVIER COUNTY, SR 66 in Sevierville SR 139 (Douglas Dam Rd.) and SR 338 W (Boyd’s Creek Hwy): Motorists should be alert for workers present, use extreme caution and expect potential delays through this project .For updated project information, go to https://www.tn.gov/tdot/topic/highway-66

SEVIER COUNTY, SR 71 between Dudley Creek Road and US 321 in Gatlinburg: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures and traffic shifts through this slope stabilization project.  Motorists should expect potential delays during peak times and use extreme caution through this area.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, I-81 at SR 394 (Exit 69): Motorists should be alert for construction activities on the exit and entrances ramps in this area as crews perform work at the SR 394 interchange. Motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures on SR 394 and use extreme caution in this area.

UNION COUNTY, SR 33 Bridge over Clinch River (Norris Lake): Traffic on State Route 33 has been shifted onto the newly constructed bridge over the Clinch River (Norris Lake).  Motorists should be alert for temporary traffic shifts and narrowed lanes approaching and exiting the bridge in both directions.  Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. as crews perform work in this area. Motorists should remain alert for workers present as crews complete this bridge construction project.  Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area.
