TDOT to Make Announcement on Lamar Avenue Projects in Shelby County
Memphis, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner John Schroer will join state and local officials on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, for a major announcement regarding Lamar Avenue (US 78/SR 4) improvement projects currently under development in Shelby County.
The planned improvements include widening Lamar Avenue from four to six lanes from the Tennessee-Mississippi state line, continuing north to the current six-lane section at Getwell Road. Three congested intersections would also be upgraded to new interchanges. TDOT estimates it will cost $300 million to complete the three projects.
Tuesday’s announcement will take place at 2:30 p.m. CDT at the BNSF Railway facility at 4814 Lamar Avenue and will last approximately 30 minutes.
