COFFEE COUNTY U.S. 41 (SR-2) resurfacing of Hillsboro Blvd. from east of Hendrixson Drive to the bridge over I-24: Weather permitting the contractor will continue working on the ADA ramps at this time. During the progress work this project may require intermittent lane closures. Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 West near MM 326, construction of a truck climbing lane, including grading, drainage, construction of retaining walls and paving: The right shoulder will be closed for the duration of the project as grade work activities are in progress constructing the truck lane and outside shoulder. Base stone and underdrains have been installed. Contractor has submitted a cool weather paving plan for A-S and A mixes as conditions will allow. Both retaining walls are complete.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-101 (Peavine Road) grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard: Traffic control and erosion control measures are installed. Storm drain installation, box culvert construction, utility relocation, and grade work activities are in progress. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support grade work activities. Motorists should be alert for construction personnel and equipment along SR-101 Peavine Road. Estimated project completion date is November 2020.

CUMBERLAND, ROANE, and WHITE COUNTY miscellaneous safety improvements on various state routes and local roads: The contractor will be installing permanent signs, guardrail, and other traffic control devices using portable signs and flaggers as needed. Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

DEKALB COUNTY Utility Work on SR-56 /  SR-1 Cookeville Hwy./Congress Blvd.: NB/SB lanes, flaggers present with temporary delays and/or traffic stoppage. Motorists should be aware of construction personnel and equipment along the route. Beginning February 26, 2018 from 6:30 am to 5 pm and estimated completion of May 1, 2018.

 

DEKALB COUNTY Utility Work on SR-96 / Wolf Creek Road: WB-EB lanes, approximately 300ft West of Center Hill Dam on the North side of the dam, flaggers signage will be used for lane closure operations. The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 35 MPH. Lanes closures between 9:00 am to 3:00pm beginning Thursday February 15, 2018 and estimated completion date of March 2, 2018.

 

DEKALB COUNTY Utility Work on SR-96 / Center Hill Dam: WB lane closure to take place on the Center Hill Dam for lighting construction. Signage will be in place for both lanes with flagger support. Speed limit will be reduced during work zone times, 7 am - 4 pm, with both lanes reopening after 4 pm. Motorists should use caution and be aware of personnel and equipment in the work zone. Work to begin March 5, 2018 with an estimated completed date of March 31, 2018.

 

FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-127 the construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridge over the Elk River (L.M. 6.21), including grading, drainage and paving: Work on this project continues. RESTRICTIONS: bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-476 bridge repair over the Elk River (L.M. 3.39) and Hurricane Creek (L.M. 7.40): The project is in progress. RESTRICTIONS: The bridge is reduced to one 9’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-24 West at mile marker 131.6: Thursday, March 1st through Wednesday, March 7th, westbound, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Traffic will be reduced to 1 lane in order to repair dip in Interstate.

 

GRUNDY COUNTY sliplining of culverts at various locations on I-24 between mile markers 129 and 134: Pre-Con held on 2/21/2018. Estimated start date is 2/4/2018. Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY SR-56 bridge repair over Pepper Hollow Branch (LM 31.24): Finishing setting up environmental measures on east side, begin excavating for new bridge, demo steel from substructure and begin demo work on existing piers. RESTRICTIONS: Bridge reduced to one 10’ lane, no wide loads. Estimated project completion date is April 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 North Exit 1 interchange reconfiguration project at mile marker 1: Work on this project continues. The project will result in a reconfiguration of the exit ramps and will combine both northbound exits (1A & 1B) into one, which will allow drivers to turn both east and west on Ringgold Road at a signalized intersection. Traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed portion of Camp Jordan Pkwy., and the intersection (I-75 NB off-ramp and SR-8/Camp Jordan Pkwy.) is now controlled by a new traffic signal.  Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY U.S. 27 (I-124) widening from I-24/U.S. 27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: Work on this project continues. The contractor has closed the 12th Street tie-in ramp to U.S. 27 South. This closure will be in place until April 2018. Traffic from 12th Street will be detoured to Carter Street and then to Westbound MLK where motorists may access the U.S. 27 South on-ramp. Detours are posted. Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the detour signage posted. On Thursday February 22nd, 2018, the contractor changed lane configurations on U.S. 27 North between Martin Luther King Blvd. and 4th Street. These changes affected the on-ramp to U.S. 27 North from MLK Blvd., and the off-ramp (Exit 1C) from U.S. 27 North to 4th Street. Traffic coming from downtown Chattanooga and using the on-ramp to U.S. 27 North from MLK Blvd. is required to come to a complete stop at the top of the ramp. Traffic wishing to access 4th Street at Exit 1C from U.S. 27 North is now directed to a new temporary exit ramp after crossing the 6th Street overpass. This new temporary exit ramp is narrow and posted for 25 MPH. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes due to the increased congestion between MLK Blvd. and 4th Street. The speed limit has also been reduced from 45 MPH to 35 MPH between Main Street and 4th Street on U.S. 27 North. The speed limit on U.S. 27 in the rest of the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the signage posted. On Thursday March 1st, 2018, the contractor will implement a nighttime temporary left lane closure on Northbound U.S. 27 from I-24 to the Main Street, from 7PM to 6AM, for setting bridge beams. Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7PM and 6AM. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on U.S. 27. THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary. RESTRICTIONS: I 124 (U.S. -27) Northbound Exit 1C 4th Street Off Ramp. No oversize/over-dimensional loads. Width Limit is 11 feet. Estimated project completion date is January 2020.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road: During this report period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures between 9AM-2PM. This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-24 West from mile markers 160 - 161: Thursday, March 1st through Wednesday, March 7th, westbound, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Traffic will be reduced to 1 lane in order to repair bridge joints.

 

MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens: Work on this project continues. This project will upgrade SR-30 from a four-lane lane divided roadway to a five-lane urban-type roadway (two lanes in each direction with continuous center turn lane) and include curb, gutter and ADA-compliant sidewalks on both sides throughout the project area. The contractor has implemented the first phase traffic shift. The eastbound lanes are closed to traffic, and all traffic is using the existing westbound lanes, which have been marked and signed as a two-lane undivided highway from east of Jackson Street to east of Knight Road. Crossovers to businesses are reduced, but all businesses remain accessible.  Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

MCMINN COUNTY I-75 resurfacing from near mile marker 39 to the SR-30 bridge near mile marker 49: Project is complete except for punchlist items that will be done in the Spring.  Estimated project completion date is March 2018.

MCMINN COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-39 / Washington Ave: TDOT Maintenance plans to have a lane closure beginning Feb 28th on SR-39 (Washington Ave) in downtown Athens. This is due to a storm sewer pipe failure underneath the #2 Lane. This section of roadway is a one way street with two lanes. We plan to shut down the #2 lane and the shoulder to accommodate work. Traffic will still flow in the left hand lane as normal. The location on Washington Ave is approximately 200 ft west of the intersection of SR-30, SR-305, and SR-39 with a Walgreen’s on the corner. This is a multi-day project and we intend to backfill the excavation site each afternoon before we leave while still keeping traffic control in place. The depth of the pipe is roughly 8 ft. and runs parallel with a sanitary sewer main. Weather pending, we plan to accomplish this within one week.

POLK COUNTY Permitted Work on SR-40 / U.S. 64: On March 5th, 6th, and 7th between 9AM and 3PM TVA will have a lane closed at the pedestrian bridge which crosses over the upper dam (17.5 mile marker).

POLK COUNTY U.S. 64 (SR-40) construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Branch and TOHA Old Line railroad (LM 24.85), including grading, drainage and paving: There will be intermittent lane closures as the contractor works to cut the embankment for the retaining wall. Due to safety concerns at the intersection of Pinecrest Road and U.S. 64, Pinecrest Road intersection has been closed. There are posted detour signs for residents to get to their homes on Pinecrest Road. This road will be closed during the duration of the construction of the Retaining Wall on U.S. 64. Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

POLK COUNTY U.S. 64 (SR-40) from mm 13 to mm 17: Crews will be replacing pipes 9 thru 12 out of 15. Estimated project completion date is March 2018.

WARREN COUNTY SR-288 construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridge over Collins River (LM 4.97), including grading, drainage and paving: Work on this project continues, Work on Pier #2 is ongoing. The bridge is currently reduced to one 12-ft. lane to allow the contractor to construct the new bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: One lane bridge. Lane width 12 feet. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance Pothole Repair and Pavement Patching: There will be possible short-term emergency lane closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to repair potholes and patch pavement on an as-needed basis. Depending on location and severity these repairs may be done during the day or at night. In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control.

REGION 2 on-call guardrail repair on various interstate and state routes: The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform guardrail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly from Sunday at 6:00 P.M. to Friday at 6:00 A.M. and daily on State Routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times on the Interstate, and flaggers will be present on State Routes during any work that is performed. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

REGION 2 sweeping and drain cleaning on various interstate and state routes: There will be mobile lane closures supporting a sweeping operation along regional interstates and highways. This activity happens Sunday - Thursday (8PM - 6AM) Estimated project completion date is February 2019.

REGION 2 on-call concrete pavement repair on various interstates and state routes: Weekend lane closure moved from this weekend to the weekend of March 9th. The tentative plan for Friday March 9th @ 9PM EST - Monday March 12th @ 6 AM EST. Work will be on I 24 in Hamilton County at the Ridge-cut at mm 182.0 - 184.0. The two right lanes will be closed and I 24 will be reduced to 1 lane from 9 PM until approximately 2 PM Saturday. Once repairs are made and concrete is poured then the middle lane will be opened to traffic and just the right lane will be closed. The right lane will be opened no later than 6 am Monday morning, sooner if we get a good early break. RESTRICTIONS: no wide loads through the ridge cut at mm 182.0 - 184.0. Estimated project completion date is March 2018.
