Additional Weekend Closure on I-24 in Downtown Nashville Scheduled for April

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation has added one additional weekend closure to the I-24 Rehabilitation project.

Contract crews will be shutting down I-24 from the I-40 split east of downtown Nashville to the I-65 split north of downtown Nashville during the weekend of April 13. The weekend of April 20 has been designated as the alternate weekend in case of rain.

The work is part of a $28.5 million project to replace the I-24 Oldham Street and Spring Street bridges and make other maintenance improvements along the corridor.

While the major bridge work was completed during four weekend closures in the fall, TDOT forces have been monitoring several areas in the corridor that have deteriorated during the severe freeze-thaw cycles this winter and need more extensive repairs than initially anticipated.

The contractor has agreed to add the repair work to the existing contract, and will perform these operations, as well as complete the final paving of the corridor during the weekend closure.

The work is weather dependent, so TDOT will issue notification once the closure is confirmed.
