DISTRICT 27 

 

CLAY COUNTY SR-53 bridge repair over the Obey River (LM 8.89):   The contractor is currently working on phase two of the project. Traffic has been shifted to the new alignment and motorists are encouraged to obey the posted speed limit and construction signs. CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 West near mile marker 326, construction of a truck climbing lane, including grading, drainage, construction of retaining walls and paving:   The right shoulder of I-40 will be closed for the duration of the project as grade work activities are in progress constructing the truck lane and outside shoulder. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-101 (Peavine Road) grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard:   Traffic control and erosion control measures are installed. Storm drain installation, box culvert construction, utility relocation, and grade work activities are in progress. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support grade work activities. Motorists should be alert for construction personnel and equipment along SR-101 Peavine Road. Estimated project completion date is November 2020.

CUMBERLAND, ROANE, and WHITE COUNTY miscellaneous safety improvements on various state routes and local roads:   The contractor will be installing permanent signs, guardrail, and other traffic control devices using portable signs and flaggers as needed. The contractor will be paving on Old Mail Road (SR 419) in Cumberland County and on Airport Road in Roane County using portable signs and flaggers as needed. Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

DEKALB COUNTY Utility Work both directions at  milepost 12.99 on SR-96 Wolf Creek:   WB-EB lanes, approximately 300 ft. west of Center Hill Dam on the north side of dam for underground electrical work. Flaggers present and flagger signage will be used for lane closure operations. The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 35 MPH. Lane closures between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM beginning Monday March 26, 2018 and estimated completion date of April 13, 2018. [UO-2007049968]

 

DEKALB COUNTY Utility Work both directions from milepost 7 to milepost 15 on SR-56 Cookeville Hwy. / Congress Blvd.:   NB/SB lanes, flaggers present with temporary delays and/or traffic stoppage for installation of fiber optic cable. Motorists should be aware of construction personnel and equipment along the route. Beginning February 26, 2018 from 6:30 AM to 5 PM and estimated completion of May 1, 2018. [UO-2007050552-2018]

 

DEKALB COUNTY Utility Work westbound from milepost 13 to milepost 12.50 on SR-96 Center Hill Dam:   WB lane closure to take place on Center Hill Dam for lighting construction. Signage will be in place for both lanes with flagger support. Speed limit will be reduced during work zone times, 7 AM – 4 PM, with both lanes reopening after 4 PM. Work to begin March 5, 2018 with estimated completion date of April 20, 2018. [UO-2007050704-2018]

 

FENTRESS COUNTY TDOT Maintenance both directions from milepost 2.18 to milepost 8.00 on SR-85 Wilder Road:   Fentress SR-85 is closed from log miles 2.18 to 8.00 due to roadway slide at log mile 6.8. Emergency soil nail operation is occurring. It is anticipated that the roadway at the 6.8 mile marker will be repaired and the estimated date(s) that the roadway will be opened is between the last week of March and the first week of April 2018. RESTRICTIONS: Fentress SR-85 closed from 2.18 to 8.00 log mile.

 

JACKSON COUNTY Utility Work both directions from milepost 15.3 to milepost 24.3 on SR-85 York Hwy.:   Periodic utility work on shoulder from Hwy 53 junction crossing the Overton County line .8 miles for aerial and buried utility installations . Signage with flagger support will be present to slow traffic, but no lanes will be closed. Work to begin March 2018 through August 2018 weather permitting. [UO-2007050131-2017]

 

JACKSON COUNTY Utility Work both directions from milepost 5.3 to milepost 24.3 on SR-53 Granville Hwy. & North Grundy Quarles Hwy.:   Periodic utility work on shoulder North of Gainesboro, from Antioch Road to Big Branch Rd. for buried and aerial fiber installation. Signage with flagger support will be present to slow traffic, but no lanes will be closed. Work to begin March 2018 through August 2018 weather permitting. [UO-2007050237-2017]

 

JACKSON COUNTY Utility Work both directions from milepost 9.4 to milepost 15.9 on SR-135 Dodson Branch Hwy.:   Periodic utility work on shoulder at Hwy 53 junction to Northwest of Blackburn Fork Road for aerial installations . Signage with flagger support will be present to slow traffic, but no lanes will be closed. Work to begin March 2018 through August 2018 weather permitting. [UO-2007050133-2017]

 

JACKSON COUNTY Utility Work northbound from milepost 9.6 to milepost 19.8 on SR-56 Jennings Creek Hwy.:   Periodic utility work on shoulder from the SR-56/SR-53 junction to South Fork Rd. for aerial and buried utility installation. Signage with flagger support will be present to slow traffic, but no lanes will be closed. Work to begin March 2018 through August 2018 weather permitting. [UO-2007050232-2017]

 

JACKSON COUNTY Utility Work westbound from milepost 5 to milepost 9.04 on SR-262 Gladdice Hwy.:   Periodic utility work on shoulder at Hwy 53 junction west to Indian Creek Road for aerial and buried utility installations. Signage with flagger support will be present to slow traffic, but no lanes will be closed. Work to begin March 2018 through August 2018 weather permitting. [UO-2007050192-2017]

 

OVERTON COUNTY Utility Work northbound from milepost 13.01 to milepost 18.95 on SR-111 Bradford Hicks Drive & Byrdstown Hwy.:   Workers will be present between 7 AM - 5 PM on the NB shoulder from Airport Rd. to Byrdstown Hwy./Byrdstown Hwy. from Bradford Hicks Dr. to Monroe School Rd. for water line installations. All lanes will remain open, please use caution and be aware of personnel and equipment. Beginning March 2018 with estimated completion of May 1, 2018.

 

OVERTON COUNTY SR-52 grading, drainage, signals and paving from near Oakley-Allons Road (LM 6.58) to SR-111 (LM 10.23):   J&M is waiting on adequate weather for Rogers Group to complete paving on project. Motorists should use caution and be alert to construction equipment and vehicles within the work zone. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 MPH and is being enforced. Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

PICKETT COUNTY safety improvements on US-127 (SR-28) from SR-295 (LM 3.37) to the KY state line (LM 7.04):   Contractor has started work on project and will be on site this week performing miscellaneous safety improvements, including placing guardrail delineation and pavement markings. Motorists are encouraged to obey posted speed limit and be on the lookout for construction crews. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

PUTNAM COUNTY I-40 grading, drainage, construction of two concrete bulb-tee beam bridges, signals and paving at Mine Lick Creek Road (MM 283/LM 15.56) and construction of a State Industrial Access Road (Mine Lick Creek Road) serving Project Victor, including grading, drainage and paving:   Work on this project continues. The bridge at Exit 283 is currently open for Phase 1 traffic, allowing one lane of travel in each direction through the intersection of Hawkins Crawford/Mine Lick Creek Road. Phase 2 of the bridge and Tennessee Ave are currently closed with flexible drums and barricades. Texture coating and pressure washing operations on the bridge have been postponed and will resume when weather permits. The contractor is currently completing grading operations at the intersection of Lee Seminary Rd (2), Phase 2 of Tennessee Ave., Highland Park Blvd, and Mine Lick Creek Rd (2). The contractor is currently working on the installation of 12" water line along the right side of Tennessee Ave., placing topsoil and sod in areas where grading operations are complete in order to reach final stabilization, installing control access fence throughout the project, and pouring curb/gutter and sidewalk at the intersection of Highland Park Blvd. Work scheduled for the upcoming week includes the placement of base stone throughout the project and asphalt binder mixes along SIA Academy Rd, pouring pipe endwalls along SIA Academy Rd, and installing RCP at intersection of Tennessee Ave and Lee Seminary Rd (2). This work may result in temporary lane closures along Tennessee Ave and the SIA Academy Rd. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limits when entering the work zone and to be alert to construction personnel, equipment and vehicles. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is April 2018.

PUTNAM COUNTY Old Baxter Road bridge repair over I-40 (LM 2.89):   Work on this project continues. The Old Baxter Road Bridge over I-40 remains closed to traffic. The contractor will begin removing equipment and materials from the I-40 median. The contractor will also be removing concrete false work from the structure and hauling waste material and debris from the job site. Barrier rail is installed on the inside and outside shoulders of I-40 eastbound and westbound for construction access. Expect nightly lane closures on I-40 eastbound and westbound Sunday night through Thursday night while the contractor works over the roadway. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and personnel.  Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

PUTNAM COUNTY SR-135 resurfacing from south of Jackson Street (LM 9.75) to north of SR-290 (LM 11.64):   Work on this project continues. The contractor has completed mix placement along mainline SR135 and intersecting side roads. The contractor is currently working to raise and adjust existing utilities and place concrete collars. Once utilities are adjusted, the contractor will begin addressing the permanent pavement markings and remaining detail work. The contractor will utilize temporary lane closures in one or both directions during this time. Pavement marking will utilize mobile operations to complete portions of work. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. Substantial work has been completed on the project and remaining punch list items are to be completed when weather permits.  Estimated project completion date is April 2018.

DISTRICT 28 

 

COFFEE COUNTY US-41 (SR-2) resurfacing of Hillsboro Blvd. from east of Hendrixson Drive to the bridge over I‑24:   Highway surface removal process will continue as scheduled. During the removal process the project will require lane closures from 7PM until 6AM Sunday nights thru Friday morning. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control as needed. RESTRICTIONS: State Route 2 both directions in Coffee County - Between LOU ELLEN DR. and ASHBURY RD., highway surface removal will cause a reduction in lanes from two to one lane at night. This work is expected to be completed by 04/13/2018. Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-127 the construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over the Elk River (LM 6.21), including grading, drainage and paving:   Work on this project continues. RESTRICTIONS: bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-476 bridge repair over the Elk River (LM 3.39) and Hurricane Creek (LM 7.40):   The project is in progress. RESTRICTIONS: The bridge is reduced to one 9’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance eastbound from milepost 129.0 to milepost 134.2 on I-24:   Crews will be cleaning out rocks from ditches from 129.0 mm-134.2 mm on April 4-April 11, 2018 from 7:30 AM-3:00 PM on weekdays. There will not be any outside shoulders. Motorists are asked to use caution in this work zone.

 

GRUNDY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance eastbound from milepost 131.0 to milepost 134.0 on I-24:   Crew will be doing shoulder work April 4-April 11, 2018 from 7:30 AM-3:00 PM on weekdays from 131.0 mm-134.0 mm. There will not be any outside shoulders. Two lanes will remain open. Motorists are urged to use caution in this work zone.

 

GRUNDY COUNTY I-24 sliplining of culverts at various locations between mile markers 129 and 134:   Chase Reline, Inc. will be working on the sliplining project on I-24 of culverts at various locations between mile markers 129 and 134. This work will be taking place Monday - Friday 7AM-5PM; During this time there will be no outside shoulder. RESTRICTIONS: Interstate 24 westbound in Grundy County - Between MILE MARKER 134 (Mile Marker: 134) and MILE MARKER 129 (Mile Marker: 129), drainage work will result in no outside shoulder on weekdays. This work is expected to be completed by 08/01/2018. Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

GRUNDY COUNTY SR-56 bridge repair over Pepper Hollow Branch (LM 31.24):   Finish adding deck steel, install deck drains, conduct concrete pre-pour meeting, dry run screed, pour deck on Thursday, excavating for pipe underdrain and gravity walls. Estimated project completion date is April 2018.

VANBUREN COUNTY SR-111 grading, drainage, and paving from south of Manus Road to south of SR-285 near Double Bridge Road:   Southbound lanes will be reduced from two lanes to one lane during the day so that the contractor can perform drainage work. North bound lanes will not be affected. One lane will remain open throughout the day, and restored in the evening. Estimated project completion date is May 2018. WARREN COUNTY SR-288 construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Collins River (LM 4.97), including grading, drainage and paving:   The bridge is currently reduced to one 12-ft. lane to allow the contractor to construct the new bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: One lane bridge. Lane width 12 feet. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

DISTRICT 29 

 

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 North Exit 1 interchange reconfiguration project at mile marker 1:   Work on this project continues. There is now only one exit ramp that allows drivers to turn both east and west on Ringgold Road at a signalized intersection. Traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed portion of Camp Jordan Pkwy., and the intersection (I-75 NB off-ramp and SR-8/Camp Jordan Pkwy.) is now controlled by a traffic signal.  Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:   : Work on this project continues. The contractor has closed the 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South. This closure will be in place until May 2018. Traffic from 12th Street will be detoured to Carter Street and then to Westbound MLK where motorists may access the US-27 South on-ramp. Detours are posted. Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit has been reduced from 45 MPH to 35 MPH between Main Street and 4th Street on US-27 North. The speed limit on US-27 in the rest of the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the signage posted. Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7PM and 6AM. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. HAMILTON COUNTY SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road:   During this report period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures between 9AM-2PM. This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-58 intersection improvement at Champion Road:   During this report period, the contractor will have lane closures between 9AM-7PM. This work may affect either direction of SR-58 at the Champion Rd. intersection. No lane closures will be in effect from 5AM to 9AM in the southbound direction and from 3PM to 6PM in the northbound direction. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens:   Work on this project continues. This project will upgrade SR-30 from a four-lane lane divided roadway to a five-lane urban-type roadway (two lanes in each direction with continuous center turn lane) and include curb, gutter and ADA-compliant sidewalks on both sides throughout the project area. The contractor has implemented the first phase traffic shift. The eastbound lanes are closed to traffic, and all traffic is using the existing westbound lanes, which have been marked and signed as a two-lane undivided highway from east of Jackson Street to east of Knight Road. Crossovers to businesses are reduced, but all businesses remain accessible. To support utility installation at Alfred St., Alfred St. will be closed and a signed detour will put traffic into Knight St. This work will possibly begin Monday 4/9/18, weather permitting and is expected to be complete by 4/13/18.  Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

MCMINN COUNTY Utility Work eastbound from milepost 14.55 to milepost 9.46 on SR-39 Tellico Street/Liberty Hill Road:   EB Lane from intersection of SR 33 & SR 39 to the intersection of SR 39 and County Road 461,installing fiber on existing facilities. Flaggers present and flagger signage will be used for lane closure operations. Lane closure between 9 AM to 3 PM beginning March 26, 2018 and estimated completion date of June 22, 2018.[UO-2007050921-2018]

 

POLK COUNTY US-64 (SR-40) construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Branch and TOHA Old Line railroad (LM 24.85), including grading, drainage and paving:   There will be intermittent lane closures as the contractor works to cut the embankment for the retaining wall. Pinecrest Road intersection has been closed. There are posted detour signs for residents to get to their homes on Pinecrest Road. This road will be closed during the duration of the construction of the Retaining Wall on US64.  Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance drainage work:   There will be possible short-term lane and shoulder closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to clean rock and debris from ditches on an as-needed basis. One lane will be maintained at all times.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance mowing and brush removal:   There will be possible short-term lane and shoulder closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to perform contract mowing and brush removal on an as-needed basis. In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance pothole repair and pavement patching:   There will be possible short-term emergency lane closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to repair potholes and patch pavement on an as-needed basis. Depending on location and severity these repairs may be done during the day or at night. In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control.

REGION 2 on-call guardrail repair on various interstate and state routes:   The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform guardrail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly from 7PM to 6AM Sundays through Thursdays and daily on State Routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times on the Interstate, and flaggers will be present on State Routes during any work that is performed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

REGION 2 preventative and unscheduled maintenance of Chattanooga SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System:   The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform preventative or unscheduled maintenance to the local Smartway I.T.S. system. Work hours are 9AM to 3:30PM. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

REGION 2 sweeping and drain cleaning on various interstate and state routes:   There will be mobile lane closures supporting a sweeping operation along regional interstates and highways. This activity happens Sunday - Thursday (8PM - 6AM) thru this reporting period.  Additionally, drain cleaning operations will be proceeding on area routes as follows: Thursday 4/5/18, I-75 North MM 8 – 12; Sunday 4/8/18 & Monday 4/9/18, East Ridge tunnels (SR-8) & McCallie Tunnels (SR-2); Tuesday 4/10/18 & Wednesday 4/11/18, I-75 North MM 10-14.  The drain cleaning in the East Ridge tunnels will be supported by a flagging operation and all other drain cleaning will require temporary lane closures.  This drain cleaning will be a continuous operation through the next few months until regional interstate and selected state routes are complete.  Estimated project completion date is February 2019.

WARREN COUNTY - CNQ270: One lane bridge. Lane width 12 feet.

HAMILTON COUNTY - CNP230: I 124 (US-27) Northbound Exit 1C 4th Street Off Ramp. No oversize/over-dimensional loads. Width Limit is 11 feet.
