UPDATED Traffic Alert - Hawkins and Hancock Counties
TRAFFIC ALERT
HANCOCK AND HAWKINS COUNTIES
KNOXVILLE – Highway 70N in Eidson will remain closed between SR 94 and Clinch Valley Road until the morning of Thursday, May 24th. Originally, one lane of traffic was to reopen on Monday, May 14th.
Due to an unstable rockslope, Highway 70N has been closed since Monday, April 16th. Conditions remain hazardous at this time as crews are continuing to perform rockfall mitigation work in this area.
Detour routes are as follows:
From SR 70 in Rogersville:
Take SR 1 (US 11W) South to SR 31 North in Mooresburg, to SR 33 North to SR 70 North.
From SR 70 in Kyles Ford:
Take SR 33 South to SR 31 South in Sneedville, to SR 1 (US 11W) North in Mooresburg, to SR 70 North in Rogersville.
Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present. The TDOT SmartWay system will have real-time information on traffic conditions, and is accessible at SmartWay.tn.gov.
