Weekly East Tennessee Construction Report for February 28-March 6, 2019

ANDERSON COUNTY, US 25/SR 9 North near Old Clinton Highway: Motorists should be alert for lane closures in this area due to a recent slide.  Motorists should use extreme caution through this area.

ANDERSON COUNTY, US 25/SR 9 Bridge over Clinch River between SR 61 and Carden Farm Drive: Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this bridge construction project.

ANDERSON COUNTY, SR 116 at Log Mile 9.4 near Briceville: Motorists should be alert for lane closures which have the roadway reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal.  The roadway will remain in this configuration over the next 4-5 weeks while crews work to repair the roadway at this location.  Short term total roadway closures will be required to perform this necessary work.  These closures will be limited from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be noted to local motorists via on-site message boards the day before, as well as via the TDOT SmartWay system and TDOT social media outlets. This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions.  Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129 By-Pass at US 321/SR 73: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. or nightly between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect possible delays, and use extreme caution through this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129 North and South between SR 35 Hall Road and Tyson Boulevard: Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment present and use caution in this area as crews begin this roadway construction project.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 321/SR 73 between W. Millers Cove Road and Long Branch Road: Motorists should be alert for lane closures which have the roadway reduced to one lane travel due to a recent rockslide in this area. Motorists should be alert for changed conditions, be prepared to stop, and use extreme caution through this area.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 South at the Kentucky/Tennessee State Line: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures nightly between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning through this project. Motorists should be alert and use caution as crews construct Welcome Center exit ramp.  Motorists should be alert for possible slowed traffic, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.  

CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 North and South between Mile Markers 135 and 142: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning through this project. Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.  

COCKE COUNTY, I-40 East near Mile Markers 432.2 and 441.8: On Sunday, March 3, 2019, motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform guardrail repairs.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution through this area.

GRAINGER COUNTY, US 25/SR 32 between SR 131 and Thorn Hill Church Road: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures and new traffic patterns through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, reduced speeds, and use extreme caution through this area.

GREENE COUNTY, US 11E/SR 34 between SR 348 and Dulaney Road: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures, workers and equipment present, and use caution in this area as crews begin this intersection improvement project.

GREENE COUNTY, SR 340 between Neill Lane and Turner Lane: SR 340 is closed to thru traffic in this area as crews perform repairs due to a recent slide.  Motorists should followed signed detour, allow extra travel time, and use extreme caution through this area.

HAMBLEN COUNTY, US 25/SR 32 Ramps to SR 160: Motorists should be alert for workers present and a reduction in lane width on these ramps as crews perform concrete roadway repairs. Motorists should use extreme caution in this area.

HAWKINS COUNTY, SR 66 between New Life Road and Clinch Valley Road: SR 66 is closed to thru traffic in this area as crews perform repairs due to a recent slide.  Motorists should followed signed detour, allow extra travel time, and use extreme caution through this area.

HAWKINS COUNTY, SR 70 between Clinch Valley Road and Cave Springs Road: SR 70 is currently closed to through traffic in this area due to a major slide which occurred on Thursday, February 21, 2019.  The roadway is anticipated to be closed for several days.  Through traffic on SR 70 is being detoured as follows:  (From SR 70 in Rogersville): Take SR 1 (US 11W) South to SR 31 North in Mooresburg, to SR 33 North to SR 70 North. (From SR 70 in Kyles Ford:) Take SR 33 South to SR 31 South in Sneedville, to SR 1 (US 11W) North in Mooresburg, to SR 70 North in Rogersville. Motorists in in this area should allow for extra travel time around this detour and use extreme caution in this area.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, SR 92 Bridge across French Broad River in Dandridge: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures with flag persons directing traffic in this area at various times through this bridge construction project. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area. JOHNSON COUNTY, SR 67, Intersection of SR 67 at Pedro Shoun Lane and Sprucey Lane (LM 12.25 to LM 12.75): Motorists should be alert to the temporary utilization of a portable concrete barrier rail system within the project’s work zone limits at the intersection of SR 67 at Pedro Shoun Lane and Sprucey Lane. The roadway traffic lanes are temporarily reduced to a nine and one half foot width (9.5 FT) within this project’s work zone limits.  Motorists should also be alert for temporary reduced regulatory speed limit (from 45 MPH down to 35 MPH), temporary reduced roadway width, construction workers and equipment being present, and expect potential delays.   Motorist should use extreme caution when traveling through this project’s work zone area.  This project is estimated to be complete on or before May 31, 2019. 

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 East and West between Mile Markers 390 and 394: Through Friday, March 1, 2019, motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures nightly between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as utility crews change street lights.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect possible delays, and use caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-640 East and West between Mile Markers 3 and 8: Through Friday, March 1, 2019, motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures nightly between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as utility crews change street lights.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect possible delays, and use caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-640 West between Mile Markers 7.5 and 5: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, closed shoulders, reduced speeds and use extreme caution through this construction project.

KNOX COUNTY, US 129/SR 115 Alcoa Highway between Maloney Road and Woodson Drive: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures as crews perform work through this project. Access to Mt. Vernon Road is closed at the intersection of Alcoa Highway for roadway construction.   Motorists should be alert for lane shifts on Alcoa Highway through this project. The left turn lane from southbound Alcoa Highway onto Woodson Drive is closed. Motorists on southbound Alcoa Highway wishing to access Woodson Drive will be detoured to SR 168 Governor John Sevier Highway to SR 33 Maryville Pike back to Woodson Drive. No left turns are permitted onto southbound Alcoa Highway from Woodson Drive. Motorists on Woodson Drive wishing to access southbound Alcoa Highway should follow detour route. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use caution through this area. Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures and brief rolling roadblocks at various times through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, reduce speed and use extreme caution through this area. KNOX COUNTY, SR 62 Western Avenue between Texas Avenue and Major Avenue: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures with flag persons directing traffic in this area at various times through this construction project. Motorists may encounter short stoppages of traffic in both directions at various times as crews move equipment. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area. KNOX COUNTY, SR 33 Broadway at I-640: Motorists should be alert for new traffic patterns through this project. On Friday, March 1, 2019, the new entrance ramp from southbound Broadway to I-640 West was opened to traffic.  This traffic switch will open the widened section of southbound Broadway that adds a new designated ramp lane to I-640 West. The added lane will separate the I-640 Westbound movement from southbound Broadway through movement by a barrier wall. On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the new entrance ramp from northbound Broadway to I-640 West will be opened.  This new loop entrance provides northbound Broadway access to I-640 West and eliminates the existing left turn movement.  Motorists traveling north on Broadway should use the newly opened right lane to access the loop ramp to I-640 West.

Motorists on North Broadway and I-640 West should also be aware of a new traffic patterns and changes to merging traffic. Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures on Broadway approaching I-640 to occur at various times as crews perform bridge work. KNOX COUNTY, SR 131 Emory Road at Thompson School Road: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays, and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 332 Concord Road between Turkey Creek Road and Northshore: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays, and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, Cedar Bluff Road between Executive Park Drive and North Peters Road: Motorists should be alert for new traffic patterns through this intersection improvement project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, reduced speeds, and use extreme caution through this area.

LOUDON COUNTY, US 321/SR 73 between Simpson Road and US 11: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures and lane shifts through this intersection widening project. Motorists should be alert for changed conditions and follow detour signs during this time. Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this area.

MONROE COUNTY, US 11/SR 2 Bridge over Sweetwater Creek at Log Mile 5: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures through this bridge repair project.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, reduced speeds, and use extreme caution through this area.

MONROE COUNTY, SR 360 near Log Mile 17.8: Motorists should be alert for a lane closure which will reduce SR 360 to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal in this area.  Motorists should be alert for new conditions, be prepared to stop, and use extreme caution through this drainage structure construction project.

MORGAN/ROANE COUNTY, US27/SR29 between Whetstone Road and SR 61:  Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, closed shoulders and possible temporary lane closures with flagging personnel present at various times throughout this construction project. Motorists should be alert for reduced speeds and use extreme caution in this area.

MORGAN COUNTY, SR 116 near Log Mile 5: SR 116 is reduced to one lane through this area due to roadway settlement. Motorists should be alert for changing conditions and use extreme caution through this area.

ROANE COUNTY, I-40 East between Mile Markers 340 and 344: Motorists should be alert for a right lane closure in this area around the clock as crew perform roadway settlement repairs.  Motorists should be alert for reduced speeds, expect delays, and use extreme caution through this area

ROANE COUNTY, I-40 West between Mile Markers 344 and 342: On Monday, March 4, 2019 through Friday, March 8, 2019, motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures through this area between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. as crews perform roadway maintenance.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect slowed or stopped traffic, and use extreme caution through this area.

ROANE COUNTY, US 27/ SR 61 South between I-40 and Martin Road in Harriman: The US 27 South/ SR 61 Bridge over Caney Creek is reduced from two lanes to one as crews perform work on this bridge repair project.  This lane reduction will remain in place around the clock until repairs are complete.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, narrowed lanes, expect delays and use extreme caution through this area.  Wide loads should follow signed detour route.  This project is estimated to be complete on or before May 31, 2019.

SEVIER COUNTY, SR 71 between US 411 and Macon Lane: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through this construction project.  Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment present, expect potential delays, and use extreme caution through this area.

SEVIER COUNTY, SR 339 near N. Ball Hollow Road: SR 339 is reduced to one lane through this area due to roadway settlement. Motorists should be alert for changing conditions and use extreme caution through this area.

SEVIER COUNTY, SR 416 near Webb Creek Road: SR 416 is reduced to one lane through this area due to a recent slide. Motorists should be alert for changing conditions and use extreme caution through this area.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, I-26 West near Mile Marker 2.8: On Monday, March 4, 2019, motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform guardrail repairs.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution through this area.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, I-26 East and West between Mile Markers 23 and 24: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as utility crews change lights in this area.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, slowed conditions, and use caution through this area.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, SR 36 Intersection at Moreland Drive and Hemlock Road: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through this project. Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this area.

UNION COUNTY, SR 61 near Big Ridge State Park: SR 61 is reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal through this area due to roadway settlement. Motorists should be alert for changing conditions, be prepared to stop and use extreme caution through this area.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, I-26 East and West approaching Exit 19: On Sunday, March 3, 2019, weather permitting, motorists should be alert for a brief rolling roadblock to occur between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. as utility crews perform overhead line crossing work.  Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped conditions, be prepared to stop, and use extreme caution approaching this area.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, I-26 East near Mile Marker 22.8: On Monday, March 4, 2019, motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform guardrail repairs.  Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution through this area.
