UPDATE: I-75 North Bridge Repairs in Knoxville Postponed

UPDATE: Due to heavy rains in the forecast, bridge repair work that was scheduled on I-75 North in Knoxville has been postponed.  Weather permitting, this work will now take place next weekend (3/15-3/18).

KNOXVILLE – Motorists traveling on I-75 North in Knoxville should be alert for lane closures that will have a significant impact on travel this weekend.

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 8, I-75 North will be reduced to two narrowed lanes across the bridge over Merchants Drive (Exit 108) as crews perform bridge repairs.  Lane shifts will be in place on I-275 North and the I-640 ramps approaching this area.  Motorists should also be alert for lane closures on Merchants Drive underneath I-75 while these repairs are taking place.

These lane closures will be in place until 6 a.m. on Monday, March 11. Crews will be working 24/7 to complete the first phase of scheduled repairs. 

Motorists should expect potential long delays, adjust travel times, and seek alternate routes.  Motorists should be alert as workers will be present and there will likely be slowed or stopped
conditions.   

Motorists should use extreme caution through this area. This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions.
