CHATTANOOGA – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews have completed the repairs on U.S. 41 in Marion County that recently required the roadway to be closed to traffic. U.S. 41 is now open to one lane and traffic flow will be managed by use of temporary signals for the duration of the slope stabilization project that is currently underway.

The contractor for the $16.5 million slope stabilization project is Dement Construction Company, LLC, and the estimated completion date is November 2019. Repairs are being made on four separate sites along a 1.2 mile stretch of U.S. 41 between log miles 25.2 and 26.4.

As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and Know Before You Go! by checking travel conditions before leaving for your destination. Drivers should never tweet, text or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel.

In 2016, the Tennessee Department of Transportation lost three workers in the line of duty. All three were struck by passing motorists. Those tragedies bring the total number of TDOT lives lost to 112. We don’t want to lose another member of our TDOT family. We’re asking you to WORK WITH US.
