Percy Priest WMA manager Mark Vance enlisted the help of TWRA wildlife officers, technicians, Tennessee Tech students, volunteers, and a group from the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers to place 28 wood duck boxes on the shore of Percy Priest Lake. The day's effort increased the number of boxes to a total of 57 on the WMA and will go a long way in enhancing the wood duck population in the area.

The wood duck is the most common nesting duck in Tennessee. They are cavity nesters and because the old trees they utilize for nesting sites tend to fall after a few years, nesting boxes allow for a more permanent option during the nesting season.
