NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA) has honored BASF-Lost Mound Drive in Chattanooga with the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health.

TOSHA Assistant Commissioner Steve Hawkins presented the award Thursday to the company’s employees and management team in Chattanooga.

“BASF-Lost Mound Drive has demonstrated a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace," said Hawkins. “The evaluation criteria for this award are challenging, and this company has worked extremely hard to meet and exceed the standards the award requires.”

The Governor’s Award of Excellence honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. TOSHA uses the size of a company to determine the number of hours needed to receive the award.

BASF-Lost Mound Drive is a chemical manufacturer. For this award period, the company qualified for the Governor’s Award by working more than 239,663 hours without a lost time or restricted duty workplace injury or illness. Additionally, BASF-Lost Mound Drive recently marked a 25-year milestone for not having a single lost time injury.
