The Tennessee workers’ comp mileage reimbursement rate mirrors the Comprehensive Travel Regulations Policy for state employees. A recent revision to the policy adopts the IRS business standard mileage rate as the reimbursement rate of the State.

This change affects workers’ compensation benefits for injured workers who travel more than 15 miles one way from their residence or workplace to an authorized medical provider or facility. Injured workers are entitled to request reimbursement for their travel expenses. Effective January 2, 2022 [through June 30, 2022], that rate increased from $0.47 per mile to $0.585 per mile.

The mileage reimbursement rates have changed over time. View the rates dating back to 1993.

June 2022 Update

A special adjustment was made by the IRS. Effective July 1, 2022, the rate increased from $0.585 per mile to $0.625 per mile.
