Johnson County Farmers Market Media Day

Thursday, June 25, 2015 | 08:00am

NASHVILLE— Pick Tennessee Products will be at the Johnson County Farmers Market for a special media day Saturday, June 27.

Media will have access to the market’s vendors and farmers for interviews. The market area will provide colorful images and video.

Staff from Johnson County’s University of Tennessee Extension office will also be on hand to teach customers how to prepare and store their fresh fruits and vegetables.

A point of pride at the market is the “Kids Market,” where children have opportunity to sell what they make or grow. There is no charge for children to participate. The Kids Market is made possible by a partnership between the farmers market and the Alliance of Citizens Together Improving Our Neighborhoods (ACTION) Coalition of Johnson County.

Another innovative partnership has resulted in a Children’s Reading Tent and Book Exchange. The Johnson County Library provides a tent filled with books for children to enjoy while parents shop. Children can also bring a book from home and exchange it for a book at the market.

Who:               All media are invited. Local officials are also encouraged to attend.
When:            Saturday, June 27 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
