Session Description

Thankfully, workplace injuries are rare occurrences for many employers.  So rare, in fact, that many are unsure as to what they are required to do and what they should do when an injury is reported.  This session will give practical advice for employers regarding what to do when an employee reports an injury, including some strategies for gathering information, maintaining communication between the employee/employer/carrier on medical treatment and return to work issues, outlining the requirements in the claims handling standards and steps to avoid a penalty assessment.  We will look at some case examples on specific types of injuries (idiopathic, repetitive stress, aggravation or pre-existing conditions) where notice can be a vital issue and how the employer’s response impacted the claim.
