Reducing Health Disparities in Tennessee

Health disparities are differences in "the overall rate of disease incidence, prevalence, morbidity, mortality, or survival rates," according to the Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education Act of 2000.

Disparities result not only in a lower overall quality of life among those impacted, but their families and communities as well.

Priority areas to reduce health disparities for the Tennessee Department of Health are:

  • Adolescent Pregnancy
