Do you have a green thumb, but not a lot of space? Are you interested in trying your hand at herb gardening, but not sure where to start?
Rocky Mount State Historic Site is excited to announce our annual gardening classes and workshops. Beginning Herbs & Herb Gardening begins the series. This will be a day long event with 2 sessions and a break for lunch. We are very fortunate to have 2 of Rocky Mount's own Master Gardener's teaching this workshop.
Morning Session
Culinary Herb Gardens - What's Calling to You? So you think you want to start an herb garden? This workshop will help you achieve this goal by focusing on: the types of herbs you might wish to grow, varieties of easy to grown herbs, considerations concerning the location and tending of an herb garden, and some tips for cooking with herbs. Afternoon Session
Building Inexpensive Small Space Herb Gardens: When you truly understand the power of fresh herbs and your need for a steady and ready supply of them, you will be ready to look at methods for keeping your “favorites” close at hand! In this workshop, participants will look at the pros, cons, and “best methods” of growing herbs from seeds, rooted transplants, or cuttings. In addition, they will learn about inexpensive methods for drying and preserving herbs and making culinary herb products and about some easy to construct and inexpensive small space herb gardens.
Admission
The cost for the workshop is $45 per person, which includes lunch. Due to limited seating space, the workshop is limited to 20 people. Purchase tickets here!
