Join us on February 22nd at noon CST for another installment of Telling the Story of Slavery.
This time we will discuss the role slavery played in the early days of Tennessee tourism. Did you know that mineral springs resorts, like Wynnewood, were the beginnings of the tourism industry in Tennessee? Much of the success of these resorts depended on the enslaved labor of cooks, porters, and others. While this facet of slavery has been little studied as of yet, we will share our ongoing research.
